Microdermabrasion, also known as Microderm, is a safe and non-invasive procedure that stimulates healthy skin cells by sloughing off dry skin cells. Microdermabrasion softens fine lines and wrinkles, helps to smooth coarsely textured skin, decreases the appearance of superficial scarring and superficial hyper-pigmentation or age spots. It gives results you can’t achieve with a home microdermabrasion kit, which is typically a scrub for the face that is often too abrasive and can even irritate skin. Our machine is crystal free, leaving no messy residue and instead uses gentle exfoliation for refreshed, glowing and smooth skin. Our Microderm service does include steam and extractions to deep clean the pores as well. This treatment is best paired with a Facial or Chemical Peel, but also works great as a stand alone service.
All skin types benefit from this treatment however, if you are prone to broken capillaries (small red facial veins) than Dermaplaning would be a better alternative. Microdermabrasion uses a small vacuum suction to pick up dry skin cells as they are being sloughed off, this suction can make current broken capillaries worse. Exfoliation is an important part of a skin care routine and professional exfoliation treatments like Microdermabrasion can really make a difference.
No, Microderm is a non-invasive treatment that allows a deeper exfoliation with out any down-time. Clients may have some redness during the treatment but the redness typically subsides by the time the service is finished. Makeup may be worn following a Microdermabrasion treatment and normal activities can be resumed. We always recommend a daily sunscreen of at least 30SPF to be worn after a treatment and as apart of your daily routine.
In the treatment room we use products specific to your concerns or needs. We currently use medical grade skin care such as Revision, Obagi and PCA in the treatment room. We carry professional medical skin care products to purchase such as: Revision, Regenica, and Clarisonic as well as our own brand.
Our machine is a diamond tip with little vacuum suction. If you are prone to broken capillaries, dermaplaning is recommended instead.
