Microneedling / PRP

microneedling

Microneedling can help treat the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, pores and the skin’s overall appearance.

What is Microneedling?

Automated Microneedling (also known as Collagen Induction Therapy or CIT) is an aesthetic procedure for the treatment of fine lines, acne scars and improvement of the skin’s overall appearance. The skin’s repair process results in a thicker dermis with the appearance of softer wrinkles smoother skin, and every small pores! Using the Collagen P.I.N, hyaluronic acid is applied to the skin and tiny needles are used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to produce collagen and elastin. The feeling associated with microneedling is similar to light sandpaper being moved across the skin. While some areas are more sensitive than others, you will always be numbed-up to help with any discomfort. The procedure takes 45 minutes total for the face, time varies based on what area is being treated.

Microneedling with PRP (Plasma Rich Platelet)

Microneedling with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is the same collagen induction therapy but with added benefit by using your own blood’s growth factors stimulate new cell and collagen growth. Adding your PRP with Microneedling gives the most optimal results for smooth, tight and glowing skin.

Treatable Conditions

microneedling

The benefits of microneedling are vast! Best of all, it can be used on all parts of the body; Face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back.

  • Mild-to-moderate acne scarring
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Skin tone and texture
  • Pore size
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Stretch marks
  • Traumatic Scars
  • Loose and lax skin

What is the downtime?

Immediately after the treatment, you will be red resembling a sunburn with potentially a few marks that look like scratches. The deeper we penetrate the skin, the redder and longer-lasting it will be. This redness/pinkness will last 2-3 days. At the 4-7 day mark, most people start peeling/flaking old dead skin cells. Exfoliating cleansers can be resumed at that point to help speed up this process, however, picking and scrubbing can result in undesired results or irritation.

When will I see the results?

Some patients notice visible changes to the skin within a week, while others may take several weeks to notice results. Results continue to improve up to 6 months after the treatment as collagen production continues. Some patients only require a single treatment, once per year to achieve optimal results. However, it is recommended for most patients to receive a series of 3-6 treatments spaced about 4-6 weeks apart.

Pre-Treatment Instructions:

  • Having a Chemical Peel or Microdermabrasion two weeks prior to your Micro-Needling treatment will help to soften and exfoliate the epidermis and help your body produce natural collagen reproduction, which will make your treatments more effective. This is NOT required.
  • If you are planning to receive Botox/Dysport/Xeomin, make sure that you give yourself at least two weeks post injections before receiving your Micro-Needling procedure. If you choose to do injections post Micro-Needling treatment we prefer for you to wait until skin is healed.
  • If you are taking a blood thinner, fish oil, aspirin or any other medication and you have the tendency to bleed easily while on, please tell your technician. If you are under a physician’s care and need to discontinue youre medication for a few days, always ask your physician prior to each Micro-Needling treatment.
  • If you bruise easily, you may consider taking Arnica Montana pre and post procedure to alleviate bruising and swelling (this may be purchased at health food stores, follow manufacturers directions). Take Arnica Montana 24 hours before treatment and continue for 3 days after treatment.
  • Prior to the Micro-Needling treatment a topical numbing agent is applied to the treatment area (unless you are allergic to any ingredients) however some discomfort may be expected. Inform your technician if you are allergic to Lidocaine.
  • Inform technician of any ALLERGIES or a history of cold sores. An antiviral may be given prior to treatment.
