Everything you Want to Know About Derma-Lo

If you've been following us on Instagram for a while, then you've most likely seen a derma-lo video. The instant results are immensely gratifying to watch and has us searching for our own broken capillaries to get treated!  Since everyone seems to be so interested in it, we thought that it would be a good idea to answer all the questions you have!

What is it in the first place?

Derma-Lo is not a laser, but it is just as (and maybe even more) effective as one when it comes to treating telangiectasias (broken capillaries), cherry angiomas, skin tags, sun spots, milia, and even mild Rosacea. Derma-Lo utilizes Radio Frequency technology to zap away imperfections on ALL skin types (unlike many lasers).

Is there any downtime?

Yes and no. Immediately after, the treated area will be slightly red. After a few hours, that will disappear but you will be left with faint "cat scratch" looking abrasions. This should only last a few days and then will naturally slough off but can be covered with makeup. Some report that the treated area gets itchy afterward, in that case, you are perfectly fine to put on Caladryl on it.

Are the results permanent and will I need multiple sessions?

Most of the time, the imperfection can be 100% removed in one short 30-minute session. However, sometimes multiple sessions are required for ultimate results. Results are not completely permanent, most of the time, the skin issue will gradually come back in about a year. At that time, another session is needed.

What are the risks/are there any contraindications?

Although infection following Derma-Lo treatment is unusual, bacterial, fungal and viral infections can occur if the area is picked or not kept clean. Pinpoint bleeding is rare but can occur. Should bleeding occur, additional treatment might be necessary. Hyperpigmentation and Hypopigmentation have been noted after treatment, especially with darker complexions. This usually resolves itself within a few weeks.

When can I get my Derma-Lo session?

Anytime! You can book derma-lo as a stand-alone treatment. It's a 30-minute session starting at $50. Even if you already have an existing facial or injectables appointment, just ask your provider if they have time for a quick derma-lo session, chances are we do!
