Let's Talk Retinols

Retinol, Retin-A, Retinoid, Tretinoin. No matter what you call it, they are all a form of Vitamin A. This incredible vitamin is a must have in your skincare routine at any age! For younger skin it can help to smooth skin, clear acne, as well as begin preventative aging. For more mature skin, using retinoids regularly can help tone, smooth and brighten the skin. If you ask any staff at ZONA what our two must-have products would be, our answer is likely a form of Vitamin A and an SPF. Let's break down the types of retinoids we offer at our office to see which one would be best for you!

AlphaRet Overnight Cream

Honestly, this is one of our high demand products. I think everyone in the office uses it, and it's easy to see why. This award-winning, comprehensive rejuvenation is the solution for all skin types and concerns. The AlphaRet family from SkinBetter combines two gold standard skin rejuvenation ingredients - a retinoid and lactic acid - to create a revolutionary double-conjugated retinoid. Unlike traditional retinoid-based products, AlphaRet provides moisture to help counteract dryness for significant reduction in pigment and wrinkles with little-to-no irritation.

AlphaRet Exfoliating Peel Pads

A 3x award-winner, and a close second favorite retinol product at the office. These triple-acid individually packed peel pads feature lactic, glycolic and salicylic acid in combination with the AlphaRet retinoid technology. We recommend these for someone who is just getting started with retinoids or for those who are wanting to add an extra boost to their routine at home. By using these 1-3x per week clients notice reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, pores and rough patches. We love these at home peel pads because they make our skin look healthier, they improve the overall appearance, and they keep us smooth, bright and glowing!

EyeMax AlphaRet Overnight Cream

A rich, silky overnight eye cream, featuring the power of the award-winning AlphaRet technology, designed to deeply hydrate, revitalize and smooth the appearance of the skin around the eye area. Basically all the goodness of the AlphaRet explained above but, for made for your delicate eye area! Dryness, crepiness, puffiness, lines, wrinkles and darkness around the eyes don’t stand a chance with this product. We recommend pairing this eye cream with the SkinBetter Interfuse Eye for the day time and to use the EyeMax at night.

Tretinoin .05%

This prescription cream is the strongest form of Retin-A and is typically prescribed for acne or melasma skin types. This product isn’t for the faint of heart, or a first timer. Thicker, oily, acneic skin and sun damaged skin tends to tolerate this form of tretinoin better. It can be drying and irritating at first, but in the long run will be a must have anti-aging product! We recommend starting this product slowly and building up to every night use. The Tretinoin also is best when paired with ZO’s HQ Blending Cream to help with stubborn pigment and melasma.

Have you been wanting to get started on a nightly retinol but not sure where to start? That’s what we are here for! Ask us about these products at your next appointment or schedule a consultation with one of our skin experts.
